In SocialShield, Discovery is the culmination of all the individual social media profiles (or "Assets") found by SocialShield using key search queries such as a company's business names, trade names, license numbers, etc. Discovery is how ActiveComply knows what to look for on the web when searching for social media profiles.
In the Discovery Collection Folder and Profiles Collection Folder, users can see the Discovery Triggers (the key items found on the profile that resulted in the Asset being brought in to the system) listed in the Triggers section on the profile card.
Default Discovery Settings
As a default, Discovery Settings are added to an account directly from an institution's NMLS Consumer Access page upon account creation. Key Discovery Settings terms that populate from NMLS consumer Access data include:
Company Name
Company NMLS ID
Other Trade Names
Individual Loan Officer NMLS ID
Individual Loan Officer Name
For more information on on idnvidual licensee Discovery, please see SocialShield Loan Officer Discovery help page.
NOTE: The automated incorporation of Discovery Settings terms from NMLS Consumer Access data happens upon client account creation. Any future adjustments to a company's NMLS account do not automatically reflect in SocialShield Discovery Settings and must be manually adjusted by the user or by an ActiveComply support team member.
Seeing Discovery Settings
To see the current list of Dsicovery Settings, users may use the gear icon at the top right of the screen > elect Settings > select Discovery. This will include a full list of the current Discovery Settings for the account.
Adjusting & Creating New Discovery Settings
A Discovery Setting is a keyword or phrase that is associated with the user's company. This is how ActiveComply keeps an eye out for affiliated social media profiles on the web. The following are typical entries:
Trade names
DBAs and JVs
License Identifiers (e.g. NMLS IDs)
Unique slogans or trademarks
Users can adjust an existing term by using the pencil icon or can create a new term using the +Add button at the top right. Terms that are too broad or generic may result in a lot of extraneous results in the Discovery Collection. While available as a self-service, it is advised that users contact customer support for assistance with the creation these types of terms. The Match Case toggle feature is useful for matching trade names that are general in nature. Examples might include:
The Mortgage Company
Your Community Bank
Automatic Monitoring
Users have the ability to use the Automatic Monitoring toggle when there is a high degree of certainty that a specific Dsicovery Setting will result in a discovered social media profile that truly is affiliated to their company. When enabled, this toggle will result in social media Assets being auto-enabled by the system without any user actions being needed.
