WebCompass: Instructions for Guest Access Users

Written by Kierstin Helms
Updated this week

Guest Access users are external, non-admin users, who receive invitation from WebCompass Admin users to review website change requests. Guest Access users have restricted access and can only view websites assigned to them for review. Guest Access user can see any compliance issues identified by their complaince team, but also key marketing information such as SEO scoring, page load time, page optimization, etc.

As Guest Access users make updates to their websites, WebCompass Issues identified will automatically update to a green checkmark upon the next website rescan.

Step 1:

Guest Access users will receive an automated email invitation from an Admin user. The email invitation will include information about ActivEcomply and what website needs the Guest Access user's review:

Step 2:

Once the Guest Access user selects the “Access WebCompass” button, the Guest will be prompted to confirm the information provided and will be granted limited access to WebCompass.

Note: Guest Access users will not have to create login credentials. Guest Access users may use the “Access WebCompass” button from the invitation email or may bookmark the URL to return to their assigned WebCompass Dashboard(s) later. The URL will be accessible for 120 days or until access is revoked.

Step 3:

Guest Access users will first be brought to their website Dashboard page. On this page, Guest Access users can see the website's Lighthouse Scores, various website metrics, and if the site has any compliance Issues that may need to be addressed.

Step 4:

When the Guest Access user selects the “Fix Now” button for each individual Issue, WebCompass will display the Remediation Instructions the Guest Access user must follow to have the Issue resovled.

For example, a majority of Issues identified may require the website operator to add key disclosures to the website footer, such as license numbers, equal housing information, privacy policy links, etc.

Guest Access users should at this time visit their website and publish the requested changes.

Step 4:

After corrective action has been taken, Guest Access users can prompt the system to "crawl" or rescan the website by selecting the "Start new crawl" button. The system will check for changes made, and the results should reflect in the Issues field.

Communicating with Admin Users

As an optional step, Guest Access users can add Attachments and/or Notes to the website if they need to communicate further with Admin users to process website update requests.
