ActiveComply incorporates both photo and video capturing into inspection surveys to document the workplace environment. To facilitate this process, ActiveComply has users take photos and videos using smartphone mobile devices or computer webcams.

Before beginning this process, users are instructed to

  • Remove all obstructions that might cause injury or block exits

  • Ensure there are no tripping hazards like loose cords, dog toys, etc.

  • Turn on lights and open any blinds to be sure this is enough light.

Granting Permissions

To begin this process on a mobile device, users must first scan the displayed QR code in the inspection survey. After transitioning to the mobile device as instructed, users must grant ActiveComply permission to access the device's Microphone and Camera by selecting "Allow" from the popup. After permission has been granted, users should capture photos or videos as prompted in the inspection survey.

QR Code Difficulties

Scanning a QR code using a smartphone mobile device is straightforward: users first open the camera application on their smartphone and point the camera at the QR code. Users should see a popup appear in the camera frame window linking to additional information. When the popup appears, users should select the link to continue the rest of the inspection survey. Users who may have difficulty using the displayed QR code can instead use the "Having Trouble" link on the page to have an automated email containing the survey link sent instead:

Resolving Issues

If a user selects "Cancel", "Block", or experiences an error when attempting to capture photo or video content, it likely means the mobile browser itself is having difficultly granting access to the inspection survey. To fix this, users can follow the below steps:

  1. Select the "AA" icon

  2. Select "Website Settings"

  3. Select "Camera" - Allow

  4. Select "Microphone" - Allow

  5. Return to the inspection survey and refresh the page to continue.

Instructions for Samsung and other Android devices (when using Chrome)

  • With Chrome open, click the dots in the upper right corner to open up the context menu

  • Go to Settings -> Site Settings -> Camera

  • Make sure the "Camera" switch is enabled

  • Check the "Blocked" and "Allowed" lists by tapping them. If "activecomply-survey" is on either list, remove it by selecting it and tapping "Remove". This will reset all camera permissions for this site page.

  • Repeat with Microphone settings.

  • Go back to the inspection survey and refresh the page. Select "Allow" when the popup appears and proceed with the rest of the inspection survey.
