ActiveComply's VirtualVerify product can include a Network Quality Assessment, or speed test, section on various types of institution inspections. This speed test module collects information about the end users internet connection strength in an effort to help institutions identify opportunities for hardware improvement and diagnose various IT related issues.

The Network Quality Assessment section will begin automatically once a user enters that portion on the inspection. Types of information display on the screen includes:

  • Upload Speed

  • Download Speed

  • Latency (ping)

  • Jitter (variability in the latency)

  • IP address

  • Internet provider name

  • Server name and location

Diagnosing Issues with the Speed Test

If a user is having difficulties with the speed test portion of an inspection there may be a few items to first troubleshoot to remediate or diagnose the issue. After trying each of the below, users should utilize the back button and re-enter the Network Quality Assessment page:

  • Disable VPN: Does the user have a VPN (such as GlobalProtect, ExpressVPN, etc.)? VPNs must be first disabled for the speed test section to function properly.

  • Clear Cookies: Ideally, the ActiveComply inspection would be performed in a Chrome browser. To clear cookies in Google Chrome, navigate to Chrome's settings, then "Privacy and security," and finally "Clear browsing data." Choose a time range (like "All time") and select "Cookies and other site data" to remove them

  • Outside Speed Test: Take an outside speed test at https://www.speedtest.net/. If the user receives a failure notice here, it likely means there is an issue with the strength of their internet connection and they should reach out to their IT department for further assistance.

NOTE: if a user cannot complete the Network Quality Assessment section of an inspection, they will likely be unable to proceed to complete the inspection. Users should contact their internal company contact if this personal issue persists.
